Medeco Awarded ISO 27001 Certification
Securing Information Assets a Top Priority for Medeco Security Locks

Salem, Va. (December 12, 2017) - Medeco® Security Locks, a division of ASSA ABLOY N.A., has been awarded ISO 27001 certification from Intertek, an independent multi-national testing and certification firm. Achieving ISO 27001 certification affirms that Medeco’s Salem, Va. operation adheres to the internationally-recognized standards for information security management in the production and sale of Intelligent Key (electronic locking) systems.

ISO 20071 certification provides requirements for setting up and maintaining an information security management system (ISMS) in order to keep information assets secure. 

“Achieving ISO 27001 certification will have a positive impact on every part of our company,” said Medeco General Manager Joseph Kingma. “It validates that which was already in place, and has improved the framework of policies and procedures that includes all legal, physical and technical controls involved in our information security management processes.” 

ISO 27001 certification assures customers that information being stored on servers or cloud-based systems is being handled in a secure manner, minimizing the risk of exploitation of data. Information assets can include financial information, intellectual property, employee information and details, and any information supplied by third parties, including vendors and end users.
