MEDECO XT KEYS   XT AIR APP    FAQS    REMOTE PROGRAMMING DEVICES

There are two key models in the XT line: "Slim" and "Industrial." Both are small, robust, convenient and portable. The Slim Line "S" and Slim Line "B" keys are designed for just about every application except those extreme and abusive environments, where the "Industrial" key is recommended. The Slim Line "B" key is the same as the "S" key however it includes Bluetooth technology allowing it to be programmed remotely with a smart phone or tablet (within cellular coverage area).

Medeco XT Keys

have dynamic memory which can adjust the amount of audit transactions and cylinder access the key can store. Medeco XT keys have a rechargeable battery which must be recharged regulary or when you notice the LED light flashes red and green. More information about the LED indicators are shown in the chart below.

Your XT key has LED  alerts to let you know your key's status.

XT INDICATORS WHEN KEY IS CHARGING

Red Flashing          Key Battery Charging

Green Flashing      Key Battery Charged (remove key from charger)

Using a Medeco XT electronic key is as simple as using any other key.

KEY OPERATION:

  • Medeco XT keys are inserted into the cylinders by aligning the leg on the end of the key tip with the slot in the keyway of the cylinder.
  • Once the key is fully inserted into the cylinder, the battery in the key will automatically provide power to the cylinder. This process takes about a third of a second.
  • The key is ready to be turned only after the key and cylinder have established communication. If permission is granted (Green On), the key may be turned, and the cylinder will unlock. If perrmission is not granted (Red On), the key will not turn, and the cylinder will remain locked.
  • Keys are water resistant, but not waterproof. Do not submerge in water.
  • Keys are rated for approximately 1,500-1,800 openings per charge.(when cylinder unlock time is set to .8 seconds)
  • Operating temperature -4 degrees F to 122 degrees F (-20 degrees C to 50 degrees C).

TIPS FOR MAXIMIZING THE LIFE OF YOUR MEDECO XT KEY'S RECHARGEABLE BATTERY:

The Medeco XT key incorporates a lithium-ion polymer (Li-Poly) rechargeable battery. By following the few simple guidelines below, you can maximize the service life of the Li-Poly battery in the XT key.

CHARGING RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • When the key gives a low/dead battery indication, recharge the key as soon as possible.
  • Remove the key from the charger/programming station when charging is complete.
  • Charge temperature is 32 degrees F to 104 degrees F (0 degrees C to 40 degrees C).

LONG-TERM STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • If the key is going to be unused and/or stored for long periods of time, it must be periodically checked and recharged as needed to ensure that the battery isn't allowed to completely discharge.
  • Store between 32 degrees F and 77 degrees F (0 degrees C and 25 degrees C).

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Avoid leaving the key in an enclosed vehicle.
  • Avoid leaving the key exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time.

Error Messages While Programming:

The XT AIR App is designed to connect to one key at a time, and a username and password must be assigned to each Bluetooth key holder via the XT Web Manager before programming can occur. While programming a Bluetooth key, these error messages may appear:

  • Invalid Credentials - Incorrect user name and/or password entered or two devices are trying to connect to the same key (one device will connect to the key, the other will display bad credentials).
  • Key Not Found - Key is out of range, is plugged into a charger, cylinder or programmer, or the battery is dead.
  • Server Not Found - URL entered wrong, service is offline or phone is in "Airplane" mode.

Q - How do I identify an "B" key from other XT Keys?

A - Each Slim Line "B" key is laser etched on the side of the polished frame with the following information:

  • XTG3B marking –unique for Slim Line "B" keys
  • FCC ID number –unique for Slim Line "B" keys

  • CE marking – common for all XT keys
  • Key serial number – common for all XT keys

The XT Web Manager will also show the generation version of the key (see the XT Web Key Screen for more     information).

Q - Besides a Slim Line "B" key, what else do I need to take advantage of this advanced programming/communication functionality?

A - An iPhone running iOS 10.1 or higher or Android phone running 5.0 or higher, cellular service or WiFi signal to communicate to the database, plus a username and password for the key holder that will be programming their key.

Q - How far apart can I have my phone and key and still communicate?

A - The current "B" key transmits up to 100 ft (tested). This is because we are utilizing high power. Later versions will have less range which will also allow an increase in key battery life.

Q - How long will my "B" key battery last on a full charge?

A - In standby mode (not communicating with the XT Air app) battery life of approximately 96 hrs (before cylinder use). In active mode (actively communicating with the XT Air app) battery life of approximately 24 hrs (before cylinder use).

Q - How many keys can I program via the XT Air app?

A - The XT Air app can only connect to one key at a time using the key holder login information. However, if additional keys need programming you can logout and login as a different user. Note: Every key holder in possession of an "S"key must be given a key holder permission level and assigned a username and password in XT Web Manager before bluetooth connection can occur.
