Guide to Using Your Medeco XT Keys & Remote Programmers

MEDECO XT KEY             REMOTE PROGRAMMING DEVICES

There are two key models in the XT line. Both are small, robust, convenient and portable. The ‘Slim Line’ key is designed for just about every application except those extreme and abusive environments, where the ‘Industrial’ key is recommended.

Medeco XT keys have dynamic memory which can adjust the amount of audit transactions and cylinder access the key can store. Medeco XT keys have a rechargeable battery which must be recharged regulary or when you notice the LED light flashes red and green. More information about the LED indicators are shown in the chart below.

Your XT key has LED  alerts to let you know your key's status.

XT INDICATORS WHEN KEY IS CHARGING

Red Flashing          Key Battery Charging

Green Flashing      Key Battery Charged (remove key from charger)

Using a Medeco XT electronic key is as simple as using any other key.

KEY OPERATION:

  • Medeco XT keys are inserted into the cylinders by aligning the leg on the end of the key tip with the slot in the keyway of the cylinder.
  • Once the key is fully inserted into the cylinder, the battery in the key will automatically provide power to the cylinder. This process takes about a third of a second.
  • The key is ready to be turned only after the key and cylinder have established communication. If permission is granted (Green On), the key may be turned, and the cylinder will unlock. If perrmission is not granted (Red On), the key will not turn, and the cylinder will remain locked.
  • Keys are water resistant, but not waterproof. Do not submerge in water.
  • Keys are rated for approximately 1,500-1,800 openings per charge.
  • Operating temperature -4 degrees F to 122 degrees F (-20 degrees C to 50 degrees C).

TIPS FOR MAXIMIZING THE LIFE OF YOUR MEDECO XT KEY'S RECHARGEABLE BATTERY:

The Medeco XT key incorporates a lithium-ion polymer (Li-Poly) rechargeable battery. By following the few simple guidelines below, you can maximize the service life of the Li-Poly battery in the XT key.

CHARGING RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • When the key gives a low/dead battery indication, recharge the key as soon as possible.
  • Remove the key from the charger/programming station when charging is complete.
  • Charge temperature is 32 degrees F to 104 degrees F (0 degrees C to 40 degrees C).

LONG-TERM STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • If the key is going to be unused and/or stored for long periods of time, it must be periodically checked and recharged as needed to ensure that the battery isn't allowed to completely discharge.
  • Store between 32 degrees F and 77 degrees F (0 degrees C and 25 degrees C).

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Avoid leaving the key in an enclosed vehicle.
  • Avoid leaving the key exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time.
